She is a very loved dog and this has been an incredibly difficult situation for me.
She will be 6 on the 27th. She is very affectionate. She lays on my lap and cuddles next to me all the time or lays her head on the arm of the chair. She rolls on her back a lot for attention :).
She is very attitudinal because she is a teenager, but other than that she is very energetic and wants to run for hours and days. She loves to chase cats and play with any toy she can find, she will tell you if you don't throw it right to her also, and I have seen her jump feet in the air to get a toy :). She wants to carry a toy around all of the time. She has mild aggression towards her little sister (small 10 pound dog) only because I think she annoys her because she jumps on her back. Other than that she has never bit anyone or anything. She doesn't really have canine teeth, they are pretty worn down because she has chewed on toys since she was a pup. But other than that she has no other health issues, she is getting bloodwork tomorrow, but her blood work in November was normal and clear.
Blu has developed seizures and is currently being treated with Keppra XR and phenobarbital under veterinary care. Since the seizures began, she has developed anxiety and behavioral changes including frequent barking and some aggression toward my other dog. I am very worried about her stress level and safety in my home.
Blu has many good qualities—she is smart, high-energy, and has been a loyal companion. Unfortunately I feel that I may not be the best environment for her anymore given her medical needs and the changes since the seizures started.
I am hoping to find a rescue, sanctuary, or experienced foster who may have more experience managing seizure dogs and could evaluate whether she can be stabilized and rehomed. I want to give her the best chance possible.
I am happy to provide veterinary records, medication details, photos, and answer any questions. I am also willing to help with transportation and make a donation to support her care if needed.
