Hi Amar!

We´ve already fixed that very problem and will upload the new version shortly.
In any case, you can always download the source code and make any changes you want. If you think your changes can be useful to others, please send us the changed version and we will incorporate that into the code base.

Regards,
Jorge

Any idea when this problem will be resolved? I wanted to try out
Hounder for an internal search engine project. Hard to try it out if I
can't install it. :-) Thanks!

Hi Jorge,

I downloaded the current version with the install issue fix. But still
I'm stuck with the installation process.

I get the following message and it stays there for ever.

"Installing Hounder
progress (making directories) 0% "

Is this still a known issue ?

We don't have any pending issues with Hounder installer. Maybe you're trying to install to a directory containing a very large file or number of files? If so, it might take a while for the installer to remove all that.

Amit, I can't reproduce your problem with the current Hounder version (2.0.1). Can you give us more info about your setup?

Hi Jorge,

Just to check whether the installation is taking time 'cos of large
file directory, I left the installation process on for a whole day
during the weekend.
But its the same, no step ahead. I still see the process hung up at
the same place.

"Installing Hounder
progress (making directories) 0% "

I'm working on CentOS 32bit with Jdk 1.6.0_12-b04. Am I missing
anything ?

Thanks,

Hi Jorge,

It was a smooth install over SUSE10.x. Within no time it got
installed. But still I'm not able to install on a sever OS (CentOS).

Hi Jorge,

A small analysis FYI.

Hounder Installation is working perfectly fine in SUSE 10 - 32 bit OS.
It does not work in SUSE 10.x - 64 bit and CentOS - 32 bit.

I would like to run hounder in the latest OS 64 bit m/c. Could you
provide me an insight into what would be an ideal environment to run
this.

Thanks,
Vlab@work

Vlab@work, can you check if you have java in the PATH variable, and if the "sh" command is linking to the bash command?

Hi Jorge,

I checked the path and it is exported with java and sh -> bash is
linked. But no break through.

I managed to install it in SUSE 10 32 bit jdk 1.6. But when i try to
stop the crawler by giving stop command, it just keeps going on and
on.

I would still like to get a break through on CentOS, which is actually
my research server.

Thanks,
Vlab@work

Amit, from the error mesage you posted, it appears the install script can't find the java command. Do you have java in your PATH?
