Hi,

So just starting out in Houdini and thought I'd make a Camera with interest as in Soft!
Seemed to get it sorted fairly quickly and get the parameters I wanted into the GUI but then I noticed that when I wanted to move the camera the axis direction always stayed in world space
Did some tests such as constraining one object(A) to another(B) using the look-at constraint.
(A) behaves as expected, rotating to look at (B), but the rotational values don't show up under transform in the parms!  So I can't then move (A) in object space with axis aligned to the direction of look at, any ideas?  I hope I'm missing something really obvious!
I've attached a hip file, try moving A up and then release and you will see what I mean, any  thoughts?

Cheers

Hi,

With some help from the guys on Discord (if you are not on there yet and starting out like me, I'd definitely sign up!) I managed to solve that problem, HIP attached, just need to do a few other things to it now!
also came across the textport and if you type in exhelp you can find out loads.

"there are two help commands - help and exhelp - if you don't find it with one try the other :) another nice trick is to use the -k flag so you can do a search like this: exhelp -k origin this will spit out all the functions that have the word "origin" in their help - so in the above example you'd get: angvel mlookat origin vorigin vrorigin vtorigin

ch mlookatup originoffset

then you can do exhelp vorgin or whatever"

Cheers
