HotSwap with Grails

I am trying to get this to work with Grails 4. Has anyone else tried this with any luck? I have a feeling the biggest hurdle is to get the hotswap-agent.properties file on the classpath.

Well, I just managed to cause this with Tomcat so I guess it is a much deeper rooted problem:

HOTSWAP AGENT: 15:22:35.622 WARNING (org.hotswap.agent.plugin.watchResources.WatchResourcesPlugin) - Unable to modify application classloader. Classloader 'org.codehaus.groovy.runtime.callsite.CallSiteClassLoader@444ae527' is of type 'class org.codehaus.groovy.runtime.callsite.CallSiteClassLoader',unknown classloader type.
