I'd like for you to introduce another HotPotato tool! I'd like to see a new tool that has individual questions like JQuiz, but has many of the characteristics that I love in JCloze.

I love how you can have an answer textbox in-line in JCloze.
I love how JCloze removes the textbox when a learner gets the correct answer and replaces it with bolded text.

With this new HotPotato, I would prepare a truckload of these and have 10 randomly displayed at a time for the learner to work on:
1. Question : [  textbox  ] va au cinéma ?
Réponse : Daniel va au cinéma.
2. Question : [  textbox  ] il y a dans la boîte ?
Réponse : Il y a un chaton dans la boîte.

Here's how I'm getting by with it in JQuiz:
The learner sees:
1. Question : __(?)__ va au cinéma ?
Réponse : Daniel va au cinéma.

    [  textbox  ]

2. Question : __(?)__ il y a dans la boîte ?
Réponse : Il y a un chaton dans la boîte.

    [  textbox ]

Yes, it works, but how cool would it be to have it all in-line and then have HotPotaoes put the correct answer in the sentence for #1 before the learner goes on to #2.

I hope I've described this adequately to inspire the HotPotatoes magicians! ;)

Hi there,

Unfortunately, Hot Potatoes is no longer under development. I have a vague long-term plan for a browser-based version, but it will be several years before I'll have the time to work on it.

However, if you have the skills to edit HTML and JavaScript, you could create your own custom exercise source file to do exactly what you would like to see, as Agnès and others have done.

Cheers,
Martin

Right! I love what Agnès has done: create 10 JCloze questions, it will shuffle and display the 10 questions. If I create 100 questions, it will shuffle and display all 100 questions!

If only I could make 100 individual JCloze questions and have only 10 randomly selected JCloze questions from the 100 display at a time (like JQuiz does). Hit "Reload" and 10 more questions are randomly served up... ad infinitum! Pedagogically, that would be very slick!

Does anyone know where to find some JavaScript code that would limit displaying a series of individual JCloze questions to some number, say "10"?
