[Hot Metal 2013] Intro & Survey
Hot Metal
Women’s Ultimate Community,
We are excited to announce the leadership and team mission
of the Hot Metal 2013 season! At the end of this email, we’re looking
forward to hearing your interest.
Kayla Kleynen and Kate Benton will be co-captaining, along with Bailey Moorhead
and Susan Thomas helping as assistant captains. We have gathered a lot of
feedback and feel that we can best support the Hot Metal program with this
structure. We feel the team mission will take a slightly different
direction this season.
Primary focuses:
-Development: Focus on player improvement. As leaders,
we want to adapt practices and workouts to keep players engaged and involved in
their own improvement.
-Camaraderie: Make each teammate feel welcome. Develop a sense of
belonging to Hot Metal and to have a great time doing it.
-Competition: Meet our competitive potential. Challenge your teammates to
work hard, because you are working hard.
A few details about the season structure…
Tournament schedule:
We’ve accepted the USAU Triple Crown Tour and as such we’re going to Terminus
in Atlanta, GA July 20-21. Mark your calendars now! Besides this
tournament, we’re looking at keeping the rest of the tournaments relatively
close and hopefully one per month (potentially Cleveland, OH in June &
Frederick, MD in August ), plus Sectionals and Regionals in the fall.
Tryout schedule: We expect to start in the beginning of May, and have the
roster almost set by the end of May.
Practice schedule: We’ve had good feedback for continuing Saturday
evening/Sunday morning practices especially for folks coming in from out of
town and continuing a workout/skills practice once during the week (if you are
in town). It’s expected that you are doing more than this on your own or
with teammates in your area.
Leadership: In
addition to the captains, we hope to have a coach and pull input from other
players we feel can help contribute to more effective teaching and development
at practices. We would also love continued support with the more
administrative side of things (web design, fundraising, etc).
The team is going to be what we make of it, and with that said, we want to hear
