AWS Devops Lead
Location: Charlotte, NC (Onsite, 3 days in a week)
Duration: 6-12 months+

SUMMARY  

We are looking for a highly skilled Lead AWS Engineer with deep expertise in EC2 instances, EKS and containerization, AMIs, Lambda, and disaster recovery. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and resilient solutions in the AWS cloud environment. This is a key position for driving our cloud initiatives, enhancing infrastructure reliability, and ensuring disaster recovery preparedness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

• Design, deploy, and manage AWS EC2 instances for optimal performance and cost efficiency.
• Develop and manage Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) to support scalable deployments.
• Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters using Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
• Design containerized solutions for applications, ensuring efficient orchestration and scaling.
• Implement best practices for container security, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Develop and manage serverless solutions using AWS Lambda for event-driven architecture.
• Optimize Lambda functions for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Design and implement disaster recovery strategies and backup solutions in AWS.
• Perform regular DR drills to ensure readiness and minimize recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
• Create and manage infrastructure using tools like CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or Terraform.
• Automate provisioning, scaling, and configuration of resources using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Implement monitoring and alerting solutions using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and other tools.
• Continuously optimize cloud resources for performance, reliability, and cost.
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, and security teams to align cloud solutions with business goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Must have at least 10 years of related experience in Information Technology.
• Must have at least 3 – 4 years of experience in AWS.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, EKS, Lambda, and AMI management.
• Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of disaster recovery principles and AWS-native tools (e.g., AWS Backup, AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery).
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Deep understanding of AWS IAM, VPC, security groups, and network configurations.
• Property/casualty insurance background and jewelry industry experience are helpful, but not required.
• Experience with multi-region AWS architectures and hybrid cloud setups.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Understanding of cost management and optimization strategies in AWS.
• Familiarity with logging and analytics tools like Splunk, Datadog, or ELK stack in an AWS environment.
