Role Summary

The Project Owner – Cloud Migration is responsible for driving the successful planning, execution, and delivery of application and infrastructure migrations to cloud platforms (e.g.AWS,Azure). This role ensures alignment between business objectives, technical execution, and migration strategy while managing risks, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

🔹 Strategy & Planning

• Define cloud migration strategy (Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Retire)
• Own the migration roadmap, timelines, and delivery milestones
• Align migration approach with business priorities and cost optimization goals
• Establish success criteria, KPIs, and SLAs

🔹 Execution & Delivery

• Lead end-to-end migration lifecycle (discovery → planning → migration → validation → cutover → support)
• Manage migration waves, backlog, and prioritization
• Ensure readiness of target cloud environments (networking, security, infrastructure)
• Coordinate data migration, application deployment, and integration activities

🔹 Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for business, engineering, and leadership
• Communicate status, risks, and dependencies clearly and consistently
• Facilitate decision-making and escalation management
• Ensure alignment between technical teams and business expectations

---

🔹 Risk & Dependency Management

• Identify and manage technical and operational risks
• Track cross-application and third-party dependencies
• Define and manage rollback and contingency plans
• Ensure compliance with security and governance standards

---

🔹 Governance & Reporting

• Maintain project documentation, dashboards, and reporting
• Monitor budget, resource allocation, and cost tracking
• Drive audit readiness and compliance reporting
• Ensure adherence to cloud best practices and standards

---

🔹 Post-Migration Optimization

• Oversee hypercare support and stabilization
• Drive performance tuning and cost optimization
• Capture lessons learned and continuous improvement actions

---

       Required Skills & Qualifications

🔹 Core Skills

• Strong experience in cloud migration programs
• Deep understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery models
• Proven ability to manage large-scale, cross-functional projects
• Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
• Strong risk management and problem-solving capabilities

• Hands-on or strong understanding of:
• AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Migration tools (e.g., AWS MGN, Azure Migrate, CloudEndure)
• Infrastructure (VMs, networking, storage, IAM)
• Databases and data migration strategies
• Familiarity with:
• DevOps, CI/CD pipelines
• Monitoring & logging tools
• Security and compliance frameworks
