A sweetheart of a boat that's easy to build. The BULL'S-EYE is an ideal first time boatbuilding project and a great way to get into boating.
The BULL'S-EYE utilizes Fast-G Stitch and Glue construction; the plywood planking is cut from standard 4' x 8' panels, assembled flat on the ground, and folded to form the boat. A pattern is furnished for virtually all contoured parts. More than 25 full-size patterns, including planking. Just lay the patterns over the wood, transfer to the wood, and saw to shape. No complex grids or tedious layouts from dimensions are required with Glen-L Fast-G construction.
The BULL'S-EYE is versatile, easy to row, and adapts readily to a small outboard. Graduate to sail with the simple free sanding cat rig, or for a more lively craft, use the fully stayed sloop rig. The traditionalist may prefer the classic sprit rig with wood spars that can be carried inside the boat for portage.
Why delay? The water's waiting and now is the time to start.
COMPLETE PLANS include FULL SIZE PATTERNS for side/bottom planking, aft side & bottom, butt blocks, form, transom, knee, breasthook, seat end, side, & top, thwart, trunk top, bulkhead, bow seat, rudder, tiller, daggerboard, bulkhead gusset, mast support, motorboard, seat ledge, trunk brace and skeg. Includes step-by-step photos and instructions, Bill of Materials, fastening and laminate schedule, plywood utilization and STITCH-N-GLUE MANUAL.
Bull's-Eye Builders Speak Out:
"I wish to thank you for helping make a long time dream of building my own boat a reality. I have sent along a few pictures, as you can see from the images, it is a Bull's-Eye sailing skiff. I stuck fairly close to the design details from your plans, but with some variation to the detail on the thwart... found your plans and instructions to be very easy to follow and understand. " Andre Moos, BC Canada
"Here's a few shots of my completed 10 month project. It was my first attempt at stitch and glue but I was able to overcome my over cautious concerns with the procedure. I was particularly impressed with the accuracy of your patterns and plans. Best regards," Herb Strom, BC Canada
"Building the Bull's-Eye has been a great experience. The quality of the drawings and plans is fantastic. If you take your time and exam the plans, patterns and instruction documents, the build is quite straight forward. The photos in the documentation, coupled with the information provided on your website and from other fellow builders certainly provides a support environment where anyone can build a boat with confidence. Thanks to everyone in your organization." Mark Chadwick - Mississauga, Ontario Canada

BULL\'S EYE / Ira Stein / Northfield, NJ / 3-21-03: Thank you for inquiring. I began the project in December 2001 and completed the boat in March 2002. I\'ve taken pictures and kept a log during construction but haven\'t had time to organize that. The boat came out very well (if I must say so myself). Its called Sea Nile too. I\'ve only had it in the water a couple of times and am hoping for more water time this season. The building method is so forgiving that even a rank novice as myself was able to build a very solid and good looking craft. My neighbor is an avid sailboat racer (J-150) and marvelled at the fair lines good looks of Sea Nile.
Date: 21 April 2000From: EL AndersonTo: Gayle BrantukGayle: Attached is a photo of the Bulls Eye just finished. Well... not quite. Supposed to be a sailboat but daughter decided she didn\'t want one after all, so finished as a row boat. She is a beauty. My previous one was the Rowme. I gave \'em both to an underprivileged children\'s camp.Have now started on the Dory...
Aug. 29, 1999Dear GLEN-LJust finished the Bulls-Eye three weeks ago and have already sailed her for the first time. She is a very lively little boat especially with the sloop-rig. Summer is winding down here in the midwest but we are already looking to next summer. My children will be old enough to begin learning the basics soon and the Bulls-Eye is just the right size. This is my second stitch-and-glue project and I can\'t say enough good things about this process. It allows amateur builders like myself to create boats that turn out very nicely as I hope can be seen in the enclosed pictures. Thanks again.Kevin R. Sprague and family
The structure is honeycombed with laboratories, features a special bullpen for graduate and undergraduate student researchers and includes offices, conference rooms and a 105-seat auditorium for research symposiums.
Perkins+Will is known for designing science and technology buildings that connect researchers and support innovation with such projects as the American College of Chest Physicians Headquarters & Training Center, Case Western Reserve University Tinkham Veale University Center, The Porter Neuroscience Research Center and Rush University Medical Center.
Jerry Johnson, design principal in the Perkins+Will Chicago office, said the organization and adjacencies of programs in the building will strongly enhance communication and interaction between the scientists, engineers, researchers and students.
Thompson said that even though Perkins+Will has done far larger projects, the firm aggressively sought to be selected by Wright State to design the NEC Building, which was recently featured in Laboratory Design magazine.
Researchers working to understand the biological processes that underlie the nervous system and its disorders, clinical researchers pursuing advancements in treatments and cures, and engineers creating medical devices and imaging technologies will operate alongside one another to hopefully break new ground in health care and defense.
Open teaming areas give researchers space to interact and share knowledge. Movable, height-adjustable workbenches allow for easy reconfiguration of the labs as research projects develop and change. Electricity, gas, suction and data are all delivered from the ceilings through quick-connect plugs, which also eases reconfiguration.
Elliott Brown, Ph.D., the Ohio Research Scholars Endowed Chair in Sensors Physics at Wright State, said the anti-vibration and cleanroom technology will also make use of the building extremely attractive to outside companies, providing a revenue source for the university.
Special safety curtains and air-cushioned tables are among features in the optics and laser lab. And the micro-manufacturing area has 3-D printers that could be used to produce equipment developed from research in the building.
