Vancouver Police Department: Parking Meters
The parking business grew as "The Hit" expanded into the Medical Arts
Building and the PCS Scotia Tower underground parking, however the
contract for maintenance of the underground parking lot was terribly
under funded. "The Hit" ended up funding the maintenance out of his
own pocket in the winter. He only had a small hand pushed sweeper,
and "The Hit" rented power washers to power wash the floor membrane
through the fall and winter. He started the New Year sweeping and
power washing the underground parking lot with Donny. It was a
horrible job, and there was not enough in the budget to pay for enough
help. "The Hit" struggled through the winter, and finally he was
relieved by spring weather just as it was time to expand again. In
the spring of 1983 "The Hit" introduced coin operated metre parking to
Saskatoon with Imperial Parking. Tom Lucas came from Vancouver for a
week, and Tom rented a vacant lot on the corner of 3 rd Avenue South
and 21 St Street East in Saskatoon.
