The recent featured article on TNooz discusses several modifications by Google to enable suppliers to manage their bidding and participation in Google Hotel Finder.

As the authors wrote:

“The good news is that help is available. Google promises to make it easy for small and independent hotels to participate and manage HPA programs with its own front-end, but there are several third party partners to help hotels to implement and manage their HPA campaigns. Not all the tools and vendors are created equal. Some just provide basic connectivity services or manual/semi-automatic bidding support, while some provide advanced automatic bidding optimization.”

The article goes into a deeper review of the bid management process and the mechanics to manage the process. It all appears a bit daunting regardless if you are an independent hotel or a major brand. Time will tell how many hotels will adopt the self-service model. Of course Google Hotel Finder is only one of several metasearch channels that the hotel will participate in on any given day. A cross channel platform with dedicated management still seems like the way to go.
