What is happening in Metasearch mobile to increase bookings?

The landscape of the mobile booking path is changing and both Google and TripAdvisor are innovating to capture more mobile transactions.  Mobile transactions are slowly gaining market adoption so maybe 2014 will be the break-out year for greater acceptance of the Google Wallet and other mobile transactions.

What is TripAdvisor doing?

TripAdvisor Show Price recently launched a strategic marketing agreement with AMEX to boost mobile transactions for AMEX users. Nearly 100 million AMEX travelers have access to synchronize purchases for AMEX advertised hotels in the TripAdvisor Show Prices program. As a card member and five minute set up, and hotel you wish to purchase that is advertised by AMEX on Show Prices can now be purchased using your AMEX card.

What is Google Hotel Finder doing?

While TripAdvisor – AMEX deal is more restrictive, it does cover a large population of online travel consumers. Google has a more encompassing approach. There are nearly 1 billion Android activations and Google claims to have “tens of millions” of credit card profiles collected through its Play store. An integral part of the Google Hotel Finder mechanics will be to position the “Buy with Google” decal on Google Hotel Finder.  The decal is clearly defined and may encourage more consumers to sign up. The convenience factor is high, but the idea of Google controlling more of the process is something yet to be determined.

Google Hotel Finder ---> Google Wallet---> Buy with Google
