Position Description

Software Engineer, SharePoint, who has a passion for the digital space with experience leading large-scale software solutions based upon lean/agile development practices to modernize application development and improve delivery of highest-value products within committed timeframes and in alignment with organization goals. The Software Engineer is responsible for the delivery and support of Office 365 and On-Prem configured and custom Microsoft-based solutions. We are looking for individuals with a strong understanding of software delivery and support with experience leading major business/digital transformation initiatives and who can leverage their wealth of technical and industry experience to implement Crown Castle’s digital products and solutions.


Essential Job Functions

• Partner and collaborate with Business Transformation, Solution Architecture, UI/UX, Product Management, Business Analysis, Project Management and other key stakeholders to strategize, understand and drive digital solutions which align to business goals

• Cultivate and drive a Software Development Community of Practice to share, develop and leverage cross-functional knowledge across the organization

• Serve as Subject Matter Expert for supported applications and systems

• Create and maintain a culture of transparency with business and IT partners by ensuring shared goals and objectives are easily understood across organizations and that progress towards achieving those goals are readily available to stakeholders and to IT

• Participate in the architectural design, development, customization and integration efforts of solutions involving collaboration, portals, content management, and workflows

• Maintain Web applications using current .NET and SharePoint 2010/2013/Online development standards with a mobile-first mindset

• Design and develop SharePoint standard and custom lists, libraries, event receivers, timer jobs, forms, interfaces, sites and applications

• Develop applications utilizing complex workflows and logic within SharePoint applications

• Design and develop information architecture constructs, including managed metadata, content types, site columns, external content types, among others

• Participate in technical design reviews of all solutions implemented by the team

• Provide third-level support for problem mitigation, troubleshooting and root cause resolution

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SharePoint On-Prem, SharePoint Online and related Office 365 features by proactively keeping updated with Microsoft's technical roadmap and release plans

• Mentor more junior SharePoint Software Engineers

• Possess a customer-centric, maintainable, scalable, highly available and high-performing development mindset

• Design and develop web applications using SPFx, ReactJS, and the Power Platform

• Provide on-call and after-hours production support

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Information Systems or related discipline; Master’s degree preferred

• Microsoft MCSE certification preferred

Experience/Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of five (5+) years SharePoint development experience

• Experience with SharePoint 2013/Online client-side object model and workflow engine required

• Minimum three (3) years of experience developing and deploying applications to Microsoft Cloud infrastructure preferred


Other Skills and Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of the telecommunications industry a plus

• In-depth understanding of Microsoft SharePoint On-Prem & Online, Teams, Yammer, OneDrive, Power Platform, Office 365, SharePoint Designer and Azure AD Connect; experience with AvePoint and Splunk a plus

• Solid understanding of Agile; Scrum, Kanban and DevOps based software development methodologies

• SharePoint Server and Office 365 migration and deployment experience

• Hands-on experience in complex collaboration migration environments, including hybrid Office 365 configuration

• Vendor evaluation and management with leading enterprise SaaS platform vendors

• Experience developing, and/or operating very complex and highly integrated system designs, with near-real time data processing, and sub-second service level agreements

• Understanding of secure coding standards and best practices

• Strong design and product development fundamentals (design patterns, database schema design, data modeling, application program interface design and considerations, design by promise, quality concepts)

• Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by Agile Release Trains

• Resourceful and proactive in gathering information and willingly shares relevant technical and/or industry knowledge and expertise with other resources

• Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty

• Proven ability to lead and support technical SharePoint implementations and enhancements through to completion

• Experience in all aspects of application development (analysis and design to implementation and support)

• Advanced application development experience (Visual Studio, .NET, C#, Bootstrap, PowerShell, jQuery, JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS, REST, T-SQL, ReactJS, SPFx)

• Experience developing against Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and 2016

• Solid understanding of IT Infrastructure (hardware, software, data, networking)

• Windows Server 2012/2016 Active Directory and Internet Information Services (IIS) experience

• Experience developing mobile first solutions in SharePoint using responsive design concepts

• Experience developing and consuming .NET Web Services

• Experience developing and deploying customized forms and complex workflow solutions

• Understanding of SharePoint’s Collaborative Application Markup Language (CAML)

• Proven experience leading multiple priorities of significant scope in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and cross-functional teams

• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into business requirements

• Self-starter with high degree of customer obsession, initiative and capacity to lead multiple priorities of significant scope in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels; deliver complex messages and teach new concepts

• Resourceful and proactive in gathering information and willingly shares relevant technical and/or industry knowledge and expertise with other resources
