I am running the latest version of Linspire OS and have noticed that
there is still a lack of a suitable backup service offered through
their CNR SUITE.

due to a recent data loss of about 5GB (we simply ran out of a place
to go with the data)
we had to rely on Linspire's "UPGRADE" function to leave the data in
tact. But as you already know, that didn't happen.

the install routine for the upgrade choked on our unconventional
partition arrangement, and faulted "AFTER" deleting the old OS, leaving
us little choice but to wipe the drive and the data with it. we tried
booting to the cd and burning what we could to cd, but it would not
allow this as the OS was in that drive.

I tried a program that will compress and store data to several g-mail
accounts but it was a beta that crapped out and would complete the
xfer.

It's really funny, that when you upgrade an OS they say to make a
backup, but how in the heck do you do that to a 40GB drive without
another computer with a 40 GB drive in it? (none was available.

I said ALL that just to ask how to set up a FTP file backup strategy to
an off site server provider.

I have tried www.box.com and found that the drag and drop function of
their software will cause my mozilla based browser to crash.

I have a nice backup utility that works great and will copy to/from
"ANY" URL, but have not found a server that does not require the use of
it's own proprietary software for this function, and is most invariably
incompatible with Linspire or Mozilla.

any ideas / service suggestions?
