Dear Mr Balaji and Mr Srinivasarao

As detailed below emails between me and Mr Pratap Das, can we have a meeting next week? This can help in long term planning about many issues with the water and security in the hostel. I am happy that somebody else is also worried about the situation and willing to particepate.

Check up with Mr Nagaraj and Mr Prabhakar. Wednesday, 10th March 2010 afternoon is fine with me. Mr Samant can also be there.

With best regards

Professor Arun M. Umarji

Dear Sir,
Thanks for the response.
I came to know about the discussion on Mess privatization and I feel
privatization is inevitable looking at the poor student involvement
especially in B Mess.

In my view these are some of the hostel issues we need to discuss soon so
that we can act upon them in time.
I think the main issue that we can discuss is about is improving the
conditions of some of the older hostel blocks like E, R,P etc, because in
August 2010 yet another batch of students will pour in and due to the room
scarcity many have to stay there. So in this time we should make an attempt
to listen to the people staying there and try to better the leaving
conditions there.  I saw a notice toady put up by some of the E block
residents  in the mess premises which they have addressed to you.
Another major issue is the problem of water in the hostels. It seems to be
severe in LR block as they had continuously got for around half an hour
daily for last two weeks. The bath rooms were also stinking as they couldn't
be cleaned due to absence of water. The ammas had to virtually sit and go as
there was no water. I had talked to Mr. Pravakar and what he says is that
the present LR block has a huge sump and to fill  in water up to the
threshold level it requires a lot of water. So we should discuss some other
alternatives which can give rise to a long time solution.
Can we meet say next Wednesday afternoon?
It would be nice if Mr. Nagrag, and some Civil  engineers of  CCMD as well
as  Mr. Pravakar can also be invited for the meeting so that we can get the
overall picture.

Thanks,
Pratap

Dear Mr Das

Thanks for your mail.

I know there are many issues that need attention. There was a meeting on
Monday 1st MArch with student council, mess committee and wardens. Right now
the issue of running the messes is discussed. This is very urgent and
hopefully after todays GBM there will be some way forward. No hostel issues
came up.

Also from April 1st, the housekeeping will be changed. This will be a
process that will have some teething problems. Security and general getup of
C mess are is being addressed.

AS you observed, the maintainance issues are being addressed. Let me know
if there are any other type of issues that need discussion. We can meet if
necessary.

with regards

 Dear sir,
It was good to see many of the problems submitted to the hostel office
last
month have been given a try to solve and also some of the long pending
civil
works in Mess premises being kick started after the discussion with Mr.
Nagraj of CCMD as per your suggestion.
But in the mean time the problem of water scarcity has become quite severe
in the campus and I know the hostel office is trying its best to meet the
minimum requirement of the boarders. There are some aspects in which we
can
improve upon...like stopping leakages in tapes and flushes etc and there
are
some other issues for which the representatives would like to meet with
the
wardens and discuss. Also since the present committee has not met with you
since it is formed, it would be good to schedule a meeting some time
soon, may be some time next week. If you are free sometime next week can
you
please let me know so that I can pass the message to the group.

Regards,
Pratap
