Do you draw the repeat lactate level before the patient leaves the ER? What is your protocol?

Lisa,
We use EPIC and we have built in our Sepsis order set to repeat automatically in three hours no matter what the initial value was. We have it built like serial cardiac enzymes. Sometimes this occur in the ED, but other times it will be on the floor.
