Loving Healthcare :

The main important aspect of the healthcare that needs to be improved
more for the future is the “human approach” to the patients.

It was Sri Satya Sai Baba who had coined the term “Loving healthcare”
back in 1980 and I am mentioning his quote:

“If the doctor is full of love and compassion, God works through him.
Doctors, therefore, have to endeavor to become the receptacles of
Divine Power during their healing process”

Doctor has been focusing on the physical condition of a patient.
However, if a doctor starts looking at the patient’s mental condition
too, as mentioned below, patients will start recovering fast.

Please, understand the patient’s state of mind when he is admitted to
the hospital :

Patient is having…

1) Unstable state of mind - Patient’s state of mind is not healthy
along with his body.
2) Fear- Patient is afraid of the outcome.
3) Pain – going through the physical and mental pain
4) Insecurity – being in an unknown surrounding, he feels insecure.
5) Uncomfortable – not comfortable as his routine is disturbed.
6) Lonely – he is alone or just accompanied by one person he knows.
7) Unfamiliar surrounding – looks other unknown people lying
helplessly on the beds.

Thus, patient needs more love, affection, care, attention etc., while
he /she is being treated at a hospital.

If doctors and all the stake holders who are in the field of
designing, developing medical equipments / hospitals and also running
a hospital, start giving attention to this “human approach” to the
patients, one day things will improve and I am already seeing what you
are also seeing…

----------------- 10 years later-----------------------

I am seeing this scenario in the year 2020.

A nurse is talking to a doctor about the condition of a patient who is
recovering very quickly. The nurse, with a smile, is informing the
doctor that the patient is to be discharged tomorrow as he is
recovering, but the patient does not want to go home….instead he wants
to stay back…(not that he has liked the beautiful nurse). The reason
she is telling the doctor is - The patient has liked the hospital stay
and he wants to stay longer in the hospital.

If this happens, we will have to start building seven star hotels in
the premises of hospitals where these HAPPY patients can still stay
longer and enjoy the stay…...

What do you say ??
