Hi people. Don't know how many of you are aware that Hackney Council has come up with a proposal for massive road closures around London Fields, involving 16 residential junctions, which they planned to implement on a three-month 'trial' from January without any public consultation whatsoever. I haven't seen the plans so I don't know if Horton and Eleanor are directly involved, but if they are, I for one am certainly against it. Whatever your views, it is outrageous that they are trying to evade any public consultation. Fortunately, some people got across it and there is now a public meeting planned for Monday 14th.December at 7pm in the Town Hall Assembly Rooms. I suggest as many people as possible turn up, at least to ensure that we do get a consultation period, and to discover the detail of the plans.

Hi,
I couldn’t open your link Felix but I have seen the map of the proposed changes from another source and I am pretty sure it only involves the streets to the west of the park that  run between Landsdowne Drive and Queesnsbridge Road, with Malvern running down the middle.

That link didn't work for me but this is a PDF link;

Here is another link which worked

Doesn't look great actually shuts off all the routes south to London Fields off Graham road other than driving down Elanor or Horton.

So apart from the general inconvenience to all of travelling within and across the London Fields roads, it will have a major adverse effect of channeling increased traffic flow up and down our road and in and out of our junction with Richmond Road.

Hi Teresa,

The correct link is of course http://news.hackney.gov.uk/london-fields-road-trial-to-see-16-junctions-closed-to-through-traffic/

I didn’t see the ‘mistake’ on the iPhone.

Wow this is so crazy! that road down the side of the park is a nightmare already because the buses can hardly fit down it and keep getting stuck. You can’t fit more traffic down there. And Richmond Road will be gridlock.

Bluerghh.

It seems to me that allowing 'through traffic' and ‘local convenience’ are irreconcilable.

Some people wanted Reading Lane kept open for their vehicular ‘convenience’ which I thought was particularly ‘anti social’.

Hackney LCC have been discussing the prospects.

True what you say about Reading Lane, but for people who live on Richmond Road, that is now often backed up with queuing traffic as far as Navarino, so more anti-social for them. My feelings are I don't live in the middle of a wood, I live on a London street and I accept that traffic goes down my road. It seems best to me to distribute traffic as widely as possible rather than funnelling it down a select few residential streets which weren't designed for it.
Anyway, whatever our diverse views, we absolutely should have public consultation, so let's turn up at the meeting if at all possible.
