Dear Equestrian Colleagues:

Attached is my 9-page report on Packsaddle Campground, within the Yuba River Ranger District of Tahoe National Forest.  This horse campground is at elevation 5,960 feet, so it is preferred for its cooler alpine temperatures during the hot summer months of the Sacramento Valley.

The Sierra Buttes area has stunning terrain with panoramic views, many lakes and creeks (for horse drinking water).   The famous Pacific Crest Trail was rerouted in 2017 through Packsaddle Campground.  So it is a welcome venue for PCT-hikers and equestrians alike.

attached .pdf with 9 pages of photographs, road maps, and trail maps.

            Respectfully submitted,
Robert Hadley Sydnor, Geologist and AERC Trail Master
