Dear Equestrian Colleagues:

Attached is a brief 2-page report on a little-known horse trailhead located 1/2 mile east of the village of Kyburz along Highway 50 in Eldorado National Forest.   This trailhead is on the historic Pony Express Trail.

The purpose of this report is to showcase the location of the trailhead, so that work-crews can use it while performing  much-needed trail maintenance on the Pony Express Trail segment between Kyburz and the XP Corral (near the Wrights Lake Road).  These might be volunteer work-crews, or professional trail crews working for the U.S. Forest Service.   These work crews need to be able to find the trailhead at Kyburz.

A secondary purpose of this report is to showcase a possible stop-over location along Highway 50 for horse trailers who are halfway between Sacramento, California and Carson City, Nevada.

Respectfully submitted, Robert Hadley Sydnor
