Dear Equestrian Colleagues:
This website contains 102+ reports on a of variety horse trails and equestrian assembly areas in northern and central California (particularly in Placer, El Dorado, Napa, Contra Costa, San Mateo, San Francisco, Marin, and Santa Clara Counties, as well as Yosemite, Point Reyes, Kennedy Meadow near Sonora Pass, Lake Tahoe, and the Grand Canyon).
Each report is in a stable Adobe Acrobat .pdf and is typically about 3 pages in length.
As a geologist and horseman, I try to use GPS-tagged digital photographs, road maps, and text to describe the site for fellow horsemen. The goal is safety and an enjoyable experience with our horses. Logistics are important when horses are involved (compared with simple hiking), so lots of details are provided (such as: horse water, horse hitching posts, entrance fees, horse trailer parking, etc.).
With the passage of time, some aspects may have changed and updates are needed. Please notify me about any updates, errors, omissions, and corrections.
This website is about horse trail-heads and horse campgrounds. Please realize that this website cannot also provide detailed mile-by-mile sequential photographs of the horse-trails themselves. That is a completely different realm.
We strive for accuracy and reliability, and look forward to your comments with updates. This is not a blog-site, so you will have to privately write to me with your editorial suggestions. You will need to provide your complete legal name. My e-mail address is shown below.
