LAKESHORE RECORDS TO RELEASE
MOTHER’S DAY – ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK
Features Original Music by Bobby Johnston
(April 23, 2012 – Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release
Mother’s Day – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on May 1,
2012. The film is loosely based on the 1980 Troma cult classic.
From director Darren Lynn Bousman and producer Brett Ratner, starring
Rebecca De Mornay and Jaime King, comes Mother’s Day. After a bank
robbery gone wrong, three brothers head for home….only to discover
that their mother lost the house in a foreclosure. The new owners and
their guests, gathered for an ill-timed birthday party, become the
brothers’ unwitting hostages. Their mother and sister arrive, and it
soon becomes obvious that Mother will do absolutely anything to
protect her children. In one terrifying evening, Mother brilliantly
takes control of the situtation and masterminds her sons’ escape.
Sides will be taken, secrets revealed, and sins punished as the
hostages struggle to make it through the night.
Composer and multi-instrumentalist Bobby Johnston’s music has been
featured extensively on the radio program “This American Life”.
Johnston’s approach features organic and acoustic instruments, which
he plays himself. The Mother’s Day original soundtrack also features
percussionist Greg Ellis, cellist John Krovoza and violinist David
Markowitz.
Johnston was called ‘a new voice in film’ by Film Score Monthly, his
soundtrack for King of the Ants earned him critical praise in film
music circles. His credits also include Wristcutters: A Love Story,
Edmond, No Impact Man and Spooner.
Anchor Bay presents Mother’s Day, in theaters in New York, Los Angeles
and Chicago on May 4, and available on DVD and Blu-ray on May 8,
2012 . The Mother’s Day -- Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on
Lakeshore Records will also be available digitally on May 1, 2012.
