horos Preferences icons and tabs are missing ( bug ?)

Since I upgraded from version 2.2.2 to 3.3.5 of Horos the following problem has occurred:
The tabs and sometimes even the icons in the 'preferences' tab disappear. The tab shows an empty space, with nothing clickable.
Usually when I delete the app and reinstall it, it returns to normal, but after I access the preferences tab a few times it returns to the problem and I still can't make the options return.
I have already reinstalled after just deleting the app in the applications folder and also after deleting the app and the related files in the folders 'Application Support' , 'Cache' and 'Saved Application state'. But the results were the same.
I am using an imac 2012 i7 with Macos sierra 10.12.6

I’ve had the same issue – blank preferences window, solved by reinstallation, but eventually reappearing – on several occasions.


Clicking "Show All" returns to the main prefs screen, but choosing (almost?) any option results in the fixed size, blank window Alex included in his post.

 

Horos 4.0.0 RC3

macOS 10.14.6

Mac Mini (Late 2014): 2.8Ghz Core i5, 16GB

 

Of course, I can’t get it to reproduce right now, but when it does I'll see if there's anything useful in the console log.

Thanks for the answer, Tim.
that's exactly what happens. In my case the only tab I can access is the "Cloud Horos" that I can access through the icon when it appears or the navigation buttons.
The other tabs don't work.

I was able to solve the problem before, by reinstalling too, but now the problem is returning very quickly, last time it returned before I finished configuring the preferences again.

This happened to me again today, and I tracked it down to the following.

The issue appears to be caused by deselecting the second of two "English" Language options in the General Preferences. This moves the folder "English.lproj" form the "Horos.app/Contents/Resources" folder to the "Resources Disabled" folder.

After doing so, the first time Horos is launched, the main Preferences window will display the icons, but choosing any results in an empty dialog. Subsequent attempts to open Preferences also produce a blank dialog.

To resolve:
  • Exit Horos
  • In Finder, locate Horos.app
  • Right-click (or control-click) on Horos.app and choose "Show Package Contents"
  • Open the Contents folder
  • Open the Resources Disabled folder
  • Drag the "English.lproj" folder from "Resources Disabled" to "Resources"
  • Restart Horos and the preferences dialog should operate normally.

Additional notes:
-- There is a folder "en.lproj" residing in Resources. Deselecting the first English choice in preferences or manually moving this folder into Resources Disabled results in a condition in which Horos will not launch
-- Deselecting the Japanese language or moving the folder "ja-JP.lproj" into Resources Disabled does not prevent Horos from operating normally.

The github issue referenced above has been updated with this information.
