Hi,

Quick question. I am using Horos for a research project. The CT imaging I have uploaded into HOROS contains only axial imaging. However, Horos appears to have reconstructed sagittal imaging, I assume from making calculations and extrapolations from the axial data I fed the software. My question is how accurate this sagittal reconstruction? Is it validated in such a way that if I make measurements on this fabricated sagittal imaging, will that be a methodology issue for me? Specifically, I am making measurements on lumbar spine angles. Again, I only have axial imaging, but Horos made sagittal imaging out of the axial cuts. How accurate is that sagittal image? Please let me know! Thank you for what you do!

Sagittal & Coronal reconstruction from DICOM Axial images is a proven methodology - the reconstruction makes use of the DICOM metadata which is part of the axial image and specifies the order and distance between slices. Measurements in all reconstructed axes (if properly reconstructed according the the DICOM standard) are considered accurate.

Our radiologists extensively use OsiriX and Horos and haven’t complained!
