Hello Horos Community,
I am using Horos DICOM Viewer in a small chiropractic practice and would appreciate your guidance on the following setup.
I have Horos installed on an iMac, which is used at the front desk to import and manage DICOM studies (X-ray / imaging files).
I would like to access and view these same studies from my MacBook, which I use in the treatment room.
Both devices (iMac and MacBook) are:
Connected to the same local Wi-Fi network
Running macOS
Using Horos (latest stable version)
My goal is to view the studies stored on the iMac directly from the MacBook, without duplicating workflows unnecessarily, ideally through:
Horos network sharing / DICOM networking
Query/Retrieve, or
Any recommended client-server or shared database setup supported by Horos
What is the recommended way to share or access studies between two Macs running Horos on the same local network?
Do I need to:
Configure a DICOM server / node on the iMac?
Enable a DICOM listener or specific port settings?
How can I verify that the connection is working successfully (confirmation, logs, test query)?
Is there a best-practice setup for small medical practices (like chiropractic offices) using Horos across two workstations?
Are there any security or privacy considerations (HIPAA/GDPR-relevant) I should be aware of for this configuration?
I would greatly appreciate step-by-step guidance or a link to the relevant documentation.
Thank you very much for your support and for providing such a powerful DICOM viewer.
Kind regards,
Mark Fauß
