Dear All
Two weeks ago, as Hornsey Historical Society's representative on Alexandra Park & Palace Consultative Committee, I was privileged to serve on the panel of stakeholders interviewing the four short-listed applicants for the post of Chief Executive prior to the 'official' interviews the following day.
It was an interesting experience, and very difficult to decide to whom we'd offer the job, if we could. We were told our comments would be considered. At the end of a long afternoon I'd personally discounted two candidates with the other two being neck and neck.
I was relieved to hear that the 'real' interviews had weeded out the same two, and that one of the other two would be offered the post. Of course, nothing could be said until the candidate had had time to consider the offer.
At last, earlier today Nick Walkley, Chief Executive of Haringey Council sent the emai below, which I can now quote.
Regards
Rachael Macdonald
From Nick Walkley:
I am delighted to be able to confirm that we will today be formally announcing the appointment of Louise Stewart as the new Chief Executive of Alexandra Palace.
Louise will join the Palace this autumn and will play a leading role in delivering ambitious restoration and regeneration plans for the venue.
Louise comes with a tremendous track record, with a host of previous roles across both the public and private sector, including positions in culture, tourism, hospitality and regeneration.
Her successes include leading roles in major regional arts and regeneration programmes such as Sage Gateshead, Hadrian’s Wall and Alnwick Garden.
In her most recent position as Director of Strategy and Deputy CEO at VisitEngland, Louise has been responsible for a wide range of work, including securing £40million funding from the Regional Growth Fund for a three-year programme of tourism investment across England.
Louise is expected to be on board by the autumn. We are of course delighted to have Louise joining us at such a pivotal time in Alexandra Palace’s history. I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank those on the stakeholder panel for the part played in the recruitment process.
