I have been trying to gain access to my game files for modifications and such and I've been unable to find them on my mac, everywhere I look I see people saying look for /USERS/[USERNAME/LIBRARY/APPLICATION SUPPORT/STEAM but I can't find the steam file there, and when I get to the steam common through the profile number and look for the Game ID I don't see anything but a program I'm guessing (because I'm no coder) is rosetta 2. if anyone could help me access my savefiles it would be greatly appreciated

your logging in with a different account . there is the possibility they could implement it but its a pretty niche thing to devote dev time to so i wouldnt be optimistic, sorry , hope im wrong on that one

Hi @Yolodia this is the offcial response that was part of community update during pre-launch beta:
Will crossplay and cross-save be available?
We see the value in cross-play and cross-save and fully intend to support cross-play shortly after launch. Cross-save is more complex to execute and still being investigated.

The game has become unplayable on Game Pass because of the low playerbase, either give us crossplay or save mobility, this is just punishing for those who already started on GP and are now stuck on a dead version of the game.

Deep Rock Galactic is not a live service game. All Progress is stored on your local machine. With Darktide all data is stored on their servers and there is no way to transfer them from Microsofts cloud to the Steam servers.

For a while now, the game has had a lot of trouble syncing cloud saves on Steam. It started taking a little while, but then that time grew and grew and grew and ended up seeming like it would never end, or returning errors and failing completely.

In short what it will do is provide the ability of cloud saves for your emulation needs and your games that aren't on Steam or that don't support cloud saves. As such, this will allow you to sync your game saves between multiple gaming devices. That includes PC, Android, and Linux.

Is this a new "thing" or has this been out for a while? Because I know there have been older counterparts of this that have many issues or just don't work how you want them to. Also, will this also work on games that don't save or are meant to be played in one playthrough?

It's actually been out for awhile now typically it has simply been used to sync file of a personal or business nature between devices. Yet what personal purpose is there better than gaming eh? It unfortunately won't work on games that don't have some type of save or at least save state. What game are you playing that doesn't have the ability to save or emulator that doesn't have a save state ability?

I tried Syncthing recently. It took me half an hour to set up a simple folder share because the interface is so confusing (particularly the mobile app, yikes,) it locked itself out of syncing at all before it had done anything which I had to fix manually, it showed the wrong number of files, and finally created a bunch of erroneous "sync conflict" duplicate files that I had to find (zero notification from the software that this happened) and clean up manually. Never again. I honestly can't believe such buggy and difficult to use software is in this state 10 years after its initial release.

Depending on the game of course, at least the PS5 and laptop would not be a problem if you use software like reWASD or Steam (even for non Steam games by configuring non Steam game) to set a controller profile that matches your PS5 game.

If I bought this game on Steam, will my existing EA App save games remain compatible so I can just pick up where I left off? Steam sometimes run sales where Andromeda is reduced to 6 - 7, which would be nice.

Hey Commander!

That is a great question that has been asked quite a few times. So the short version is that it should as it uses the EA App Launcher in the background. Typically with saves, especially on Steam, they save to the Steam cloud so it can be a bit tricky. However, with this one, as long as you are not loading up saves from the original versions and not the MELE version you should be good to go.

I didn't hang about so bought that up right away. Really pleased to see the EA App immediately re-added MEA back into my Library (I never uninstalled it). I'll be very happy to be playing that again later, awesome.

As of Patch 0.6.1.3 (Early Access Build 202470, released on September 28, 2022), the produced save file header has version 10, the save version is 30 and the editor object version is 40. For these versions, this format description should be correct, but may not be complete: It is possible that not all potential structures were present in the analyzed save files.

A length of zero represents the empty string and occupies just these four bytes. A positve length means that the characters are encoded in UTF-8. A negative length means that the characters are encoded in UTF-16 little-endian, without a byte-order mark. In this case, the given negative length has to be multiplied by minus two to get the number of bytes the rest of the string occupies (including the two bytes for null-termination).

These composite data types are documented below. A data type is a list of ordered fields, each field is a row in the table of the data type. So, for example: The SaveFileHeader begins with an Int (four bytes) that represents the save header version. This is followed by another Int (the next four bytes) that represents the save version and so on.

Zero, one or multiple properties concatenated form a PropertyList. The special property named "None" marks the end of a PropertyList. All other properties in a PropertyList also have a type, which has the basic data type String. After the "name" and the "type" strings, the type-specific part begins. For these, see the following "...Property" descriptions.

As part of an element in an ArrayProperty or "standalone" as the payload of a StructProperty, several custom types can occur. Note that the actual type is stated beforehand as a String, with a gap of 17 bytes to this structure. By default, the TypedData is just a PropertyList (see above), but there are some special structures:

I'm a bonafide console princess who hates tinkering with files and settings, but even I managed to get this to work and so can you. Here's step by step how to get your Xbox Palworld save into your Steam Palworld game..

Thanks to Github, there is some free and easy software to download to extract your Xbox game data. Head over to download the Xbox Game Pass Save Extracter here, scroll down to Assets, download the xgp-save-extractor.exe file. You may get some error messages such as "Make sure you trust this file before opening it" but just click through these. Trust the process!

Run the extractor file, again skipping through any security messages (this is common with files from Github). The software will automatically locate your Xbox save data from your PC, including Palworld. It will look like the picture above, press enter to exit.

In my case my save data was in my Downloads folder where all of my browser downloads, you should find a zip file. You'll need to identify which file is the Palworld save data you want. If you have multiple worlds this might be tricky but in my case I only have one world.

Obviously, you'll need to have some save data on Steam to 'overwrite' so I suggest now opening up Steam to create a placeholder world. Open the game, create your world and simply exit out. We're going to replace this save file with the Xbox one.

In this folder, sort by Date Modified to identify the folder for your PalWorld save. In my case there is only one file as I don't use Steam on this laptop generally, but you may need to sort yours in an order you can make sense of. The PalWorld file should be most recently modified and the smallest in size.
