Story Maps, like other apps in ArcGIS Online, are web apps, so they are accessed and stored on the web, i.e. in the cloud. (If you are using ArcGIS Enterprise to create Story Maps or any other web apps, they are stored in a private cloud inside your Enterprise). Either way. you can sign-in and access your Story Maps from any computer, same as you would with gmail or other cloud systems. There's no need to save specific app instances locally to your computer (and in fact there's not a way to do that.) The data that you add into maps shown in these apps is also stored in the cloud, or managed as part of your organization's Enterprise GIS. There may be some content you add to maps that you want to make backups of. For example I have some Excel spreadsheets that contain point data like places of interest that I upload into the web maps I use in some of my Story Maps. Even though I've uploaded those files into web maps, where they appear as point features, I backup those Excel files locally like my other important files because I put a lot of work into them. Somewhat related to this question, there's not a way to save a web map or app (such as a Story Map) to disk so it can be viewed offline. The closest we have to that is the ability to print a Story Map Cascade or Story Map Journal to a PDF file.

My flash drive is unable to save data properly. Whenever I save files on my flash drive, it shows all data, and when I unplug it and plug it back in, it continues to shows all data (including folders, subfolders, RAR files, etc.) on my system.

Make sure you tell your OS to "eject" the drive before you remove it. Because if you remove it without doing that, you can have data on your drive still being written, or in queue for being written, and you will lose that data, or have files get corrupted.

I think the most important question here since he uses linux and windows is: how is the drive formatted? If it is NTFS linux wont be able to read it, if it is EXT2 or 3 Windows won't be able to read it. Since it is working on one PC and not the other I assume this is the issue. My friend has Cubase 7 Artist and he had a song he wanted me to work on in my studio. He went to File, Save As, and saved the project on the flash drive. When he closed Cubase, reopened it, he could go to the flash drive, file the file and open it up.

Why? We are sending out a handful of HP Elite book G5 with 64 bit windows 10 pro. The other laptops we just store the key file on a secure drive. We cannot have people entering passwords or leaving a USB inserted at all times. How can I get it to where I store the file on a drive or print? This is so frustrating.

Can someone please explain exactly what needs enabled or disabled in the local group policy (this is not a domain computer) so that I have the option to save to file? All I have now is insert drive or password. I Need save to file. No idea why I have to spend this much time researching this. Is this not an option? Please, anyone, help me if you can. These aren't on a domain so AD doesn't apply. It is soley for if the drive was taken or moved, the key would be needed to access the data, We don't want staff to have to enter a password at startup or keep a drive attached. We simply want to encrypt and walk away. If something happens and they need the recovery key we will have that stored on a secure network drive with the rest. It just seems like way hard to make this possible. I Was able to get the option to save, then it said C was on autolock or something and couldn't be encrypted. Then when I did save it, it still required me to manually enter the recovery key. This is just a pain and it really shouldn't be, not when this can be setup on other models within minutes.

TPM is enabled on the bios 2.0 is what it says. I still am only able to create a password or insert a usb at every boot. Cannot have that and that isn't how the other laptops work, either. The only we would need the key is if the drive is moved or tampered with. That is it. I was able to select the USB, save to file, then when I reboot I got the "The data drive specified is not set to automatically unlock on the current computer and cannot be unlocked automatically"

I have spent nearly 4 hours trying to get this to function. What gives, TPM is enabled the additional authentication settings are all set. Why, why is this such a mind numbing pain! ? In prior years, people who do that end up with corrupted/unusable files on the thumb drive. AND even if it works a couple times, your file might be destroyed somehow another time. So I don't recommend it.

I had read one post a few years ago, where a knowledgeable person indicated that USB-connected drives sometimes get remapped during shutdown/restarts, and the software will lose track of where that file is.........trouble trouble.
