Welcome to May

The weather is nothing like the usual May. There was record warmth in April and the way it is going we may be back to the summer we had last year with 40 days over 80 degrees. But it does make for nice beer drinking. Ther brewers are responding to the warm days and are brewing some wonderful beers. Rooftop has a Kolsch that is perfect for early summer. We have the Beardslee Wit on which is also just right for a 80 degree days. It is almost mid-year and that means another Seattle Beer Week. We love beer week and it is a chance to display some wonderful beers from our craft brewer friends, and put together some fun events for the annual beer-mania.

We will have cask on the bar as a kick-off to the Hopvine events. Some of our favorite brewers are bringing fresh and wonderful cask including Stoup, Cloudburst, and Post Doc. The beer doesn't taste any fresher than cask and these experienced brewers know exactly what to do. Stop by on Monday the 16th starting at 6pm.  On Tuesday Two Beers Brewing is in the house. Their beer has gotten so exceptional that every year we shake our head and say... WOW! On Wednesday the 18th Crazy Black Raven Boys are in the house. Craven will join open mic to sing something spectacular and the beer selection will be amazing. Fantastic beers guaranteed on  the 18th.

Special Beer Art Photography will adorn the artwall at the Hopvine beginning on the 13th.  There is art in the brewery and the shots highlight how interesting the light and subject matter can be in your local craft brewhouse. See if you can name the breweries the shots originated.

The Hopvine has a new menu coming out next week. There will be some new items and the return of the grinders. Quite a long time ago the grinders were very popular but menus change and now it is time to revisit this yummy sandwich.

On the entertainment front. A reminder the Hopvine has one of the longest running open mics in the city. There have been many talented folks that have graced the stage. Every Wednesday at 8pm sign up or stop in to hear the talent for yourself. Finally we have some fantastic singer solo perfomers on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month at 8pm. We have a rich musical culture in this town and we should all appreciate it.
