Job Description-

To strengthen our Agility Enablement at UCB, we are seeking a passionate, high-energy candidate with a growth mindset to help enable our agile model. The candidate should have strong mentoring, coaching, team-building, and communication skills, as well as a hunger to learn built upon a foundation of high enthusiasm, positivity, and flexibility. This is a unique opportunity to experience agility being implemented within an integrated commercial and medical business unit in the pharmaceutical space.

Within our agile operating model, the Agility Enablement Lead (“AEL”) is a proven leader, with a strong ability to influence and champion our agile operating model to enable value and impact within and across our organization by providing both individual and team coaching, while simultaneously helping to remove impediments to objectives.

The AEL role is a blend of a traditional "Agile Coach" and "Scrum Master" in traditional SCRUM models, helping to champion change both within agile teams and more holistically from a change management perspective. The AEL must champion an adaptive and flexible mindset to learn, understand, and champion our tailored agile model, largely based upon SCRUM, Kanban, and traditional project management. The AEL exemplifies the behaviors required in an agile operating model through guidance and collaboration, ensuring focus, prioritization, and pull-through for strategically aligned initiatives. The AEL must regularly partner with agile teams to drive towards value-based decisions, and regularly contribute to upgrading both the mindsets and technical skills of squad members related to agility.

From an Agile Coach perspective, the AEL acts as a servant leader, regularly asking how they can help enable our agile teams and is generous in delivering consistent feedback regarding performance and results to team members. From a Scrum Master perspective, the AEL organizes and facilitates reviews across agile teams to monitor progress to goals, identify risk areas, and devise plans to ensure objectives/deliverables are met.

Key Activities:

•    Work with agile teams to institute, practice, and adopt agile techniques
•    Serve as a coach and mentor in areas like professional growth and interpersonal interactions between different parts of the organization (e.g., conflict resolution, impediments, etc.)
•    Develop agile and role-specific training materials to enhance working in an agile way
•    Perform ongoing health checks with teams to flag impediments at team and/or system level, remove roadblocks early, and ensure teams stay adaptive, innovative, and agile while ensuring continued compliance
•    Brings outside-in perspective to build benchmarks
•    Drives progress checks across priority initiatives to provide support, direction, and/or course-correcting solutions

Position Requirements:

•    Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary and/or matrixed teams
•    Strong familiarity with agile mindsets, behaviors, and approaches (e.g., Lean, SCRUM, etc.)
•    Authentic, adaptive, and resilient leadership skillsets
•    Deep understanding of team communication, group dynamics, and coaching
•    Demonstrated leadership skills in managing, developing, and influencing teams
•    Change management experience
•    Knowledge of appropriate regulatory guidelines
•    Demonstrated strength in strategic planning, tactical plan development, and execution
