The fun thing about rows of 8 is that the patterns are all different! Notice how the last column is full of blue squares because every number there is a multiple of 8 and has at least three factors of 2. And now 9 (two reds) acts like 11, going diagonally up the sweater, as does 7 (purple) in the opposite direction.
One of the cool things about this sweater is that it works in any language and on any planet!!! You see, even if an alien race had only four fingers on each hand, they could look at the back of the sweater and all their numbers would work. For that matter, a number system with a base of 7 or some other strange base would still work, even though it might not be in neat rows for that base. The chart is entirely independent of the symbols used to represent a number, and based only on color.
Wow, what a wonderful sweater! I admire how you visualised this, your knowledge and dedication, and the way you give it a personal touch. And then you took the time to share it online, which is even more awesome! This is a work of art!
I have exchanged my wide leg hippie pants for leggings that fit easily into boots until the snow disappears. That generally happens sometime in mid-May. So I still have quite a few days of wintery weather to endure before I really come back to life. I am definitely in hibernation mode and enjoying it more than you know.
This outfit is a typical combination for when I am just hanging around the house or running the kids to and from school. I loved these wide legged cotton pajama style pants from Rainbow Zen so much that I bought 4 pairs. These tie dye ones are my favorite especially in the warmer weather. I styled them in the summer with a tank top and kimono and these same Fauxenstocks.
The three other pairs of pants like these have a Buddha print on them and are so stinking comfortable that I literally wore them every day until the snow came. I already wore a hole through the crotch of the black pants so they have been downgraded completely to pajama pants, but the blue and the green pairs are still holding up along with the tie dye joggers and tie dye dress that I got on the same Rainbow Zen shopping trip.
Clearly, this outfit is all about comfort. And If I recall back to the fall, I believe I had no intention of taking photographs of this look. But then I figured I share pictures of my underwear so why not share pictures of my cozy wear? It is, after all, a more accurate reflection of what I look like most of the time.
I changed into this outfit after shooting the outfit inspired by the Solar System Quilt and realized that it worked just as well by accident as the outfit I had purposefully created. Serendipity offers shows up in my style.
Speaking of Style Imitating Art, remember to stop by on Monday when I will be announcing my first curated artwork for the next style challenge. I am so excited to share a very sentimental work and the story behind it with you!
I love that ultra cozy sweater nd of course the color. It is fun with the ti dye.. nothing wrong with comfort! I feel the same about Fall here, it goes by too quickly! I love the beautiful surroundings in your pictures, it really is my favorit e season, winter is too bare!
enjoy your weekend!
jess xx
Thank you, Jess! I am all about cozy comfort right now. It is brutally cold here that it hurts to step outside! I am so looking forward to heading to NC in a few weeks! I will send another group email confirming all of my details and stuff but I will definitely be in Asheville the weekend of February 26! Have a fabulous weekend, my friend.
I love that you changed your mind about tie dye, Nancy! That makes my hippy heart happy! I will be sending you lots of positive healing energy until you return safely home from your surgery! Sending you a million hugs, too!
Love the autumnal colors in your outfit, and the setting is beautiful! It is so refreshing to look back pre-freeze out ?! We have a 4+ inch snowstorm coming our way this afternoon. I know this is nothing compaired to the snowy winters you experience! Stay cozy and warm and enjoy your weekend!
Thanks so much, Di! I found these autumn colors and the leaves on the ground to be very refreshing as well. It was only 3 months ago yet it feels like an eternity has passed since the winter freeze as set in. We have had days and days of -30 and below temperatures (again today). It is so ridiculous. It hurts your face the second you step outside! I hope you are able to get out in your snowstorm for some snowy photos! Because as much as I do love the autumnal background, nothing really beats a background of freshly fallen snow!
Haha, thanks, Debbie! I actually got kind of cringey when I was typing that sentence about flattering! Because I do feel comfy and cute and totally myself in an outfit like this. And if I am shivering cold, it matters not how cute my outfit is because I am just going to cover it with a blanket or something to get warm anyway! What in the holy hell is with this cold!? It is -35 here this morning. Again. We have had so many days with these ridiculous sub-arctic temperatures. Stay warm, my friend!
Thank you, Marsha! Jeff has definitely developed some fairly decent photography skills over the years! We thought about getting an actual camera but then decided we were both comfortable with the iPhone camera and neither of us was really into leaning a new gadget! Haha. I love how this autumn river background photographed so much! And I love basically everything that is tie dyed as well. Have a fabulous weekend, my friend!
Thank you, Alexandra! We do have beautiful fall foliage in northern NY, but it comes and goes so quickly. I was just telling my husband last night that I would love to schedule an autumn trip through the Smokey Mountains when the leaves have fully changed. I bet that is an awesome sight!

This sweater combines crochet and knitting. The four-leaf clover motifs are worked with crochet hooks, and the other parts are worked with knitting needles. The construction is rather unique and it starts from the bottom of the yoke up, then the other parts are worked top-down, which allows you to try the sweater on and choose the length and type of the neck as well as the hem and sleeves. I hope you enjoy this freedom of choice, deciding as you go on the options to work.
Again I wanted to love this one, I wanted it to be exactly like the full price version but friends it is not. This sweater blazer is more blazer than cardigan. It is shorter, with buttons and tapered, longer arms. I did have a few issues with this since I ordered it also in a medium and in that size it was tight, there was no way I could have layered a long sleeve under it. Also the collar wants to stand up, which is fine but I like the look of a typical blazer with the lapel down and this one would not do that. The final strike was the color, I wanted to wear it with my favorite Target leopard loafers and this khaki is much lighter making it not as good of a match.
I know this is very late to be commenting but I just had to write and say how much I appreciate your blog post. I purchased the sweater/blazer and got the in store one not the factory, per your advice and saved myself having to return the cheaper one. Your post and pictures convinced me to make the purchase! Thank you, thank you!

The bright, juicy peach hits you up front, but followed closely behind is a wooly, fuzzy tea scent. I don't get any milk or anything like that, but my bottle has only been resting for 3 days because I have no chill.
