While out of town this weekend my parents came and washed my curtains. Apparently they didn't use my natural detergent but their own. Now my bedroom smells of detergent. Washing them again is not an option as they are really hard to get up and down and I don't do it often. I am now trying to air them outside, have had the Windows open all morning, sprayed Norwex odor eliminator twice. I still smell it. I also diffused purify in the room for several hours. Is there an oil I can make into a spray that would take out the smell? Or any other tips?
Thanks,
Mandi

Mandy,
So sorry to hear of your dilemma. I am horribly chemically sensitive myself. Airing them outside if you cannot wash them again really is your best bet. The horrible thing is, they now have detergents that scents supposedly last 30 to 40 weeks in your drawers... kind of hard to naturally combat that. My only other thought is just literally to leave your bedroom windows open and close your door and sleep in another room for a week or two.. oooo just had an idea, ask around if you have any friends that have an air purifier with Ozone abilities. With that in the bedroom and close the door and let it run. Hope something works soon.

I have had good luck with lavender oil. Just put a few drops on several cotton balls and place near the curtains. Mixing a few drops in some water in a spray bottle might work too.

Off the top of my head, I was thinking you could try making a spray
bottle of distilled water, baking soda, and possibly vinegar and spray
on and let dry. Maybe someone else can chime in about which essential
oil to add to it. You wouldn't want one that might leave oil stains.
Maybe melaleuca or lavender.

Another option that I found online -- it's about costumes, but it may
work on curtains:
"I volunteer the opera and we use cheap vodka. You put it in a spray
bottle, spray it on the costumes between wearings and it's doesn't soak
the clothes, but evaporates quickly, removing the smells during the
evaporation process."
