I have had fibrocystic breasts since I was a teenager. I've been on an iodine protocol for about 14 months. Of that time, I've taken 50mg [about 8 drops of Lugols 2%] for 6 months. My breast tenderness went away within about 3 months. They were so painful that I had to protect them from my baby girl when she would run up and hug me. The news gets better! For the past 3 weeks, I've been painting 2% Lugols mixed with magnesium oil directly to my breasts once a day. This past Saturday morning, I examined my breasts and the painful cyst that I have had for years and years was gone! I felt in another spot that normally has a noticeable cyst and it's gone too! I also have a lump that I truly believe is a tumor (in the same right breast) that shoots pain up under my right arm. That lump is not very painful anymore, and I haven't noticed any shooting pains for about a week. So praise God for iodine! I've firmly believed it held a key to my health improvements and now I'm seeing it!

Information about Lugol's Solution

Lugol's solution is a solution of iodine and iodide in water, and is used as a topical disinfectant and antiseptic, an emergency water disinfectant, as an iodine source for saltwater aquariums, and for other uses. It can also be taken to cure iodine deficiency and to keep the thyroid from absorbing iodine-131, a highly radioactive isotope of iodine common in nuclear fallout. Invented in 1829 by the French physician Lugol, it has been tried and true for 180 years.

This solution comes in an amber glass bottle with an eye dropper. Ingredients are iodine, potassium iodide, and distilled water. Each full eyedropper contains approximately 82mg of iodine, and about 5.2mg iodine per drop. The iodine solution can gradually corrode the rubber in the eyedropper, so a teflon-lined cap is supplied for storage.

SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION

Elemental diatomic iodine forms I- anions in solution with water, which is very poorly soluable. The addition of a highly soluble iodide, such as potassium iodide, allows the diatomic molecule of iodine (I2) to combine with the I- anion of the potassium iodide to form the I3- ion, which is highly soluble in water, thus allowing the elemental iodine to dissolve.

PRECAUTIONS

As elemental iodine is a halogen and an oxidizer, overuse of this product on the skin may result in chemical burns and skin lesions. This solution is moderately strong. Keep out of eyes. Follow all rules and guidelines for topical use, dietary use and water disinfection.
