I have been talked to more than once about these essential oils, and I would love for them to help out in my situation. I am just not sure that they would, as I am not even sure what is going on. Any input or shared experiences from others with similar issues would be greatly appreciated!
For the past 1.5 years, my skin has been erupting in hives. They respond to Benadryl and other antihistamines, so they must be allergies, but I have yet to find out what is causing them. I have had the allergy test done, but I only reacted to a small number of random things (maybe that was accurate? I don't know). My allergist started me on allergy shots, and they really did help but lately my hives have been returning, and my face has been swelling: lips, eyelids, everything. I am so confused as to what is going on, and am at the point where I am willing to try anything.
Out of desperation, I tried drinking a drop of lavender essential oil (diluted of course) last night. I honestly don't know if it did much, but then my skin looked so terrible I don't know what could have affected it at that point. My friend asked me if I also wanted to try peppermint topically for relief from the itching (she mixed coconut oil in so it wouldn't be too harsh). I started just by putting it on my face, and almost immediately felt a relief that I had never experienced with my hives. Long story short, I ended up rubbing that stuff pretty much all over last night (that's where my hives were!), and slept remarkably well and peacefully. So, I know it has value. I am just scared to completely go with these oils as I don't know if my case is too severe.
Any thoughts?

Rashes can be big mysteries! You don't need to be *scared* to try the oils - they have helped so many people. Lavender and Peppermint are very good choices. The bottom line key to eliminating the rash is to pinpoint the trigger(s). It may be yeast overgrowth. A diet that avoids sugars (sugars feed infection and drain the immune response) is very beneficial. Sugars also include grains, white potatoes and foods that convert to sugar. This will starve the yeast. Eat fresh fermented foods (they are easy to prepare - fermented foods are much more valuable than a probiotic capsule, but if you can't ferment, then a good probiotic supplement will help.

If looking for a product and since the Peppermint helped, you may want to consider the Itchy Rash Spray as it's diluted with Aloe Vera and has both Lavender and Peppermint in it.

My prayers are with you - let us know!

Christie, another factor to consider are genetically modified foods (GMOs). If you are eating any processed foods they most likely contain GMOs. Studies have shown that they are absolutely devastating to the health, causing inflammation and allergic reactions (which can definitely show up as skin issues). Since GMOs are unlabeled, it's best to eat whole foods that you prepare yourself. Keep in mind, that any animal products you eat that have been fed genetically modified corn or soy, needs elimination as you eat what the animal has eaten. If you haven't already, switch to organically grown vegetables, grass fed, grass finished beef and all organic milk products. I would also cut out any products that contain gluten and see if that doesn't help.

The idea is to pinpoint the cause of the problem so that the rashes go away.
