+ Magnesium is a mineral that is required in over 325 enzyme systems in the body.
+ Helps metabolize proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
+ Helps keep blood sugar balanced.
+ Acts as a natural statin. There is an enzyme that statin drugs 'kill,' but magnesium balances.
+ Regulates cholesterol.
+ Creates the spark that goes from nerve cell to nerve cell to create movement.
+ Necessary for muscles.
+ Magnesium should balance calcium. If you lack magnesium, calcium takes the upper hand. Magnesium relaxes muscles; calcium tightens them. If you lack magnesium, your muscles are tight. Your heart, being a muscle, can go into spasms due to a lack of magnesium, which may cause angina and heart attacks.
+ Our soils are depleted of magnesium yet still have calcium, and the typical diet is 3 parts calcium to 1 part magnesium. We need a diet where they are balanced.
+ People supplement with calcium thinking they can avoid osteoporosis, but unless they balance calcium with magnesium, this may lead to calcification issues in the heart, kidney stones, gallstones and so on.
+ Two studies show that women who take calcium supplements are at a much higher risk of getting heart disease.

1. Anxiety and panic attacks: Magnesium normally helps keep adrenal stress hormones under control.

2. Asthma: Both histamine production and bronchial spasms increase with magnesium deficiency.

3. Blood clots: Magnesium has an important role to play in preventing blood clots and keeping the blood thin without any side effects.

4. Bowel disease: Magnesium deficiency slows down the bowel, causing constipation, which could lead to toxicity and absorption of nutrients as well as colitis.

5. Cystitis: Bladder spasms are worsened by magnesium deficiency.

6. Depression: Serotonin, which elevates mood, is dependent on magnesium. A magnesium deficient brain is also more susceptible to allergens, foreign substances that in rare instances can cause symptoms similar to mental illness.

7. Detoxification: Magnesium is crucial for the removal of toxic substances and heavy metals such as aluminum and lead from the body.

8. Diabetes: Magnesium enhances insulin secretion, facilitating sugar metabolism. Without magnesium, insulin is not able to transfer glucose into cells. Glucose and insulin build up in the blood, causing various types of tissue damage.

9. Fatigue: Magnesium-deficient patients commonly experience fatigue because dozens of enzyme systems are under functioning. An early symptom of magnesium deficiency is fatigue.

10. Heart disease: Magnesium deficiency is common in people with heart disease. Magnesium is administered and hospitals for acute myocardial infarction and cardiac arrhythmia. Like any other muscle, the heart requires magnesium. Magnesium is also used to treat angina, or chest pain.

11. Hypoglycemia: Magnesium keeps insulin under control; without magnesium, episodes of low blood sugar can result.

12. Insomnia: Sleeper regulating melatonin production is disturbs without sufficient magnesium.

13. Incontinence: The beneficial effect of magnesium on urge incontinence was discovered accidentally by researchers several years ago, when women who were prescribed magnesium for spasms in their calf muscles remarked that the treatment also helped their bladder symptoms.

14. Kidney disease: Magnesium deficiency contributes to atherosclerotic kidney failure. Magnesium deficiency creates abnormal lipid levels and worsening blood sugar control in kidney transplant patients.

15. Migraine: Serotonin balance is magnesium-dependent. Deficiency of serotonin can result in migraine headaches and depression.

16. Osteoporosis: Use of calcium with vitamin D to enhance calcium absorption without balancing amount of magnesium causes further magnesium deficiency, which triggers a cascade of events leading to bone loss.

Dosage Suggestion: 3-4.5mg per pound of body weight daily / 6-8mg per kilogram of body weight daily

Having a Green Smoothie every day is a natural way to start getting your body back into balance with the nutrients it needs.
Add:
1 TB dried Kelp powder
1 TB organic Molasses

For additional Magnesium, you can also apply Magnesium Oil or Magnesium Spray to your underarms or wrists every day. This is referred to as Transdermal Magnesium Therapy. Bath soaks with magnesium flakes are helpful as well.
For general use, dilute 1 cup flakes per bath.

Foods high in Magnesium include:
apricots
dates
figs
avocados
brazil nuts
walnuts

filberts

Statements About the Importance of Magnesium from Doctors

"Virtually every known disease is associated with magnesium deficiency, including asthma, hypertension, cancer, diabetes, migraine, allergies, myocardial (h), and depression." C. Norm Shealy, MD, PhD

"Enzymes are protein molecules that stimulate every chemical reaction in the body. Magnesium is required to make hundreds of these enzymes work". Dr. Carolyn Dean

"Magnesium chloride is a nutrient... that belongs in every household in the world, in every doctor’s clinic and in every hospital." Mark Sircus Ac., OMD

“Magnesium is necessary for the normal function of over 300 enzyme systems, for muscle relaxation, immune function, cardiac function, clotting, nerve conduction etc. Indeed I cannot think of a bodily department in which magnesium is not essential.” Dr. Sara Mayhill

"Deficiency of magnesium is associated with virtually every known disease: heart attacks, diabetes, depression, cancer, etc. Oral magnesium supplements are not easy to assimilate and many take five years or longer to give results." Dr. Norman Shealy

"90-95% of the population is deficient (in Magnesium), and most of them have thought that regular magnesium supplements (taken orally) will fix magnesium deficiencies. Unfortunately, this isn't the case"
Dr Carolyn Dean (author of the Miracle of Magnesium)

“Most modern heart disease is caused by magnesium deficiency. A vast and convincing body of research, largely ignored, has convinced us and many colleagues of this fact.” Dr. Mildred S Seelig, MD

"Magnesium improves the activity of white granulocyte blood cells and increases production of immune-defensive substances such as antibodies and complement factors." Dr. Nieper is an expert in cancer therapy and says there is a correlation between high levels of magnesium and health versus low levels of magnesium and poor health. Dr. Hans Nieper, MD

Magnesium Chloride vs Epsom Salts

Epsom Salt is magnesium sulfate, typically used in baths to support the joints and promote production of digestive enzymes that detoxify the body. Epsom salt is considered inferior to magnesium chloride because it is rapidly excreted through the kidneys and therefore difficult to assimilate. High doses have shown toxicity, while chloride, due to a difference in the molecular structure, is non-toxic and very beneficial to the body. Some note that bath soaks with the salts should be limited to about 20 minutes at which point they believe you begin to re-absorb the 'junk' you are detoxing. It is also felt that the magnesium sulfate in Epsom salt is preferred for detoxing after swimming in chlorinated water.

Magnesium “Oil” is magnesium chloride and better suited for transdermal absorption than (Epsom Salts) magnesium sulfate. Some report that they no longer have morning sickness in their pregnancies. Chloride salts are essential for sustaining human metabolism and should not be confused with chlorine gas. Dr. David Brownstein promotes the use of magnesium chloride as an important part an iodine treatment plan. He says, "Magnesium is nature’s relaxing agent. Magnesium levels (via red blood cell magnesium levels) should be assessed and supplementation instituted. Magnesium supplementation will likely ensure optimal results with iodine." Magnesium Chloride is the clear choice for supplementation, and the best delivery system for this is through the skin (transdermal).

The Journal of the American College of Nutrition says that at least 68% of us are magnesium deficient resulting in a host of health problems that include: insomnia, depression and fatigue. In days gone by, our ancestors got magnesium from the soil, water and fresh foods produced on their family farms. Fluoridated water is said to deplete magnesium. Topically applied, magnesium oil is a wonderful way to remedy the deficiency and thus improve our health.

Make Your Own Magnesium Oil
Spray under the arms, on wrists and stomach. Calm anxiety, sleep better and improve digestive issues.

1/2 cup filtered or distilled water

1. Bring the water to a boil.

2. Add the magnesium flakes and stir well until completely dissolved.

3. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

4. Pour into a glass spray bottle.

+ Some report experiencing a tingling sensation when first beginning to use it. This effect fades in 10-20 minutes and after some time, people report that they don’t experience it anymore.

+ Start by spraying underarms, wrists, stomach with 6-8 sprays the first day.

+ You may build up to 20 or more sprays. Build to bowel tolerance. (Magnesium will loosen the stool, so if your bowel movements become loose, then you know to back off the number of sprays.)

Testimony
My mother almost died from essential tremors; her whole body would not stop shaking. I started having her soak her feet in magnesium chloride, and it completely cured the tremors!
