At this point it sounds like you feel part of the tick might have been left under the skin. Oregano might irritate the skin, so if you are not seeing the body of the tick, then you may want to use something else. People use: Hyssop, Lavender, Tea Tree, Thyme ct linalool - really any essential oil to deal with ticks and subsequent infection. The body will want to expel it, and the oils seem to help facilitate that and deal with infection.

My favorite book is Holistic Aromatherapy for Animals by Kristen Leigh Bell. Bell is a certified aromatherapist who has specialized in the use of aromatherapy for animals for almost 30 years. Bell cautions to "always D-I-L-U-T-E essential oils with dogs!" She suggests starting with a dilution suitable for a human toddler, which translates into 10 drops of essential oil in 1/2 oz (15mL) carrier oil (1-2%).

I tried to remove a tic from the dog and it didn't go well.  I made the spot bleed and today, there's a bump.  Should I call the vet, or can I put an oil on it?
