I have a 5 day old baby and was wondering how to slow my milk production. I did see in the Education section that you could use peppermint with a cold compress. I am willing to try that however I wanted to ask about the peppermint and the new born as I have heard that we are to be careful with inhalation of peppermint with children under the age of 2. If I put it on my breast will the lingering smell harm my new born? Are there any other things I can try to reduce my milk production, I am trying to avoid mastitis like I had with my other two children.
Thanks- MelissaF

Hi Melissa,
Congratulations on the new baby. Peppermint does not need to be applied to the breast to reduce the milk supply. You can apply it to the bottoms of your feet and drink Peppermint tea as well. I hope this helps! ~ Linda
