Essential Oil Immunity?

I have another question about essential oils :-) When it comes to herbs, some can be taken indefinitely and others should only be taken short term/duration of illness or else the effectiveness deminishes or your body just becomes immune to them. Is this the same with essential oils? Or would it depend on how the eo is being used (topically, internally, diffused)? Should they be rotated out after so many days with another blend/single that is good for the same health issue?

In Christ,
Crystal

P.S. The information in response to my last inquiries were most helpful! Thank you so much!! <3

Crystal, there are many variables to this question. Personally, we use the oils as needed, not continuously, unless we are addressing a continuous issue.

For an acute issue such as the flu or a cold, we use a blend like Plague Defense or Warrior (applied to bottoms of feet) to help support our immune response. Once we have recovered, we stop using them. There may be some who use a blend like Plague Defense daily, but we don't.

For joint pain, we would apply a blend like PainX as often as desired on a sore joint, and in every case we've had, we use less and less until we have not more need for it.

For a weak thyroid, we apply Vitality topically on the thyroid area (diluted) and will continue to use it for thyroid support, perhaps indefinitely.

If using the oils long-term for a serious illness like Lyme disease, then alternating some of them may have benefits and would be something I would probably do.

Blessings, Linda

Linda,,

Makes sense. I guess I should have been a little more specific. My mom has congestive heart failure and is taking diuretics to help remove the excess fluid. She also has diabetes. So basically two long term health issues. At one point I suspected my mom was coming down with an UTI and I ordered cedar wood. I gave it to her in a capsule form every two hours, at first round the clock (I did NOT want her to have to go on antibiotics!), but then to waking hours - she recovered. Praise the Lord that He also used it to help remove the excess fluid in her body so that we were able to drastically reduce the prescription diuretic that she is on. Being concerned about any possible immunity I have switched back and forth between cedar wood and kidney support. I still give it to her every two hours she is awake, stopping about dinner time so she that she does not have to be up and down throughout the night.

For the diabetes I had tried coriander before off and on, giving it to Mom at meal times and did not see much effect. However, this time around I tried giving it to her every two waking hours with much better results (it had been out of control for a while and I knew if it didn't get under control the doc would really start pushing drugs!). That was quite a relief to see the glucose levels come down. I'm just concerned whether I should be switching it out with another one that is also good for diabetes to avoid a possible immunity development.

Thanks!

In Christ,
Crystal

Hi Crystal,

I'm so thankful to hear what you are doing for your mother and that you have found something to help her - Bless the Lord!

If you can alternate the oils/blends without losing efficacy, then that seems like a good plan to me, but I have read/heard that because the oils are variable from season-to-season (batch-to-batch), there is not the same concern that one would have with a pharmaceutical. I have used one blend daily now for nine years (Vitality for thyroid support), and I don't feel like it's lost any efficacy for me.

I hope someone with actual experience like you describe will offer their experiences. From what I've read/understood, people are using the same oil/blend daily with no loss of efficacy. The hope would be, if it is possible, to help the body come into a balance so that the support would no longer be needed. That may or may not be possible in these cases, but we can pray that the Lord will give wisdom for how to continue to help her with natural methods that don't cause more harm. May ALL your efforts be blessed!

Linda
