Alissa asked: What's a good oil for treating mosquito bites? I am looking for myself as we'll as my son (15 months). I am still breastfeeding, so I'm trying to stear clear of anything that could cause a decrease in supply. Thanks!

Hi Alissa,

This is from our section about using the oils for Babies & Children:

Insect Bites
These oils can be used undiluted on the bite depending on the age of the baby and number of bites. Peppermint has a cooling effect that may feel overwhelming if used on a large area of a small child. Dabbed on a few single bites, it should be fine and desirable. Avoid areas where the child might rub it in the eyes.

Prevention: No Bites!

The No Bites! blend is very mild and works great. You smell more like you've been baking than the typical citronella mosquito repellent. As for nursing, you can use the oils by the drop without hampering milk supply. It would take a number of drops frequently to do that. I put a drop of Peppermint on a mosquito bite, and if I get it on there immediately, it has completely disappeared in an hour. The greater the span of time between getting bit and applying an oil, the longer it takes to go away. I like Peppermint because it's anti-itch, cooling and drives the mosquitoes away. BUT, I don't use Peppermint as a deterrent because it's too strong for all over the body use.
