My wife Monika and explored a little in Groton State Forest in Vermonts NE kingdom.

Specifically signal Mountain. This place is like theTRG of the north. If you can find it, you deserve to ski it. We went to Seyon Lodge, which has its own xc trail system. We followed the trails in a westerly direction until we got onto the bottom of Signal on the north side. Found moose tracks that went up the mountain and followed those. The moose naturally went for openings for easier travel, so this worked out well. Skied one nice line down, but it seems like similar lines are everywhere here. We broke trail the whole way. The xc trails hadn't even been groomed. I would bet no one has gotten onto this part of Signal since then. Great snow quality too. So just go to Signal Mountain and ask the moose.

Just pulled this off the VT Interactive Map Viewer. Seyon Lodge is at the western end of Noyes Pond.
