to hoosac range skiing
Bridges really make a difference! Saturday 2/8 we led a
Beginner's Tour from Rt 100 in Readsboro to Harriman
Dam. None of the skiers were beginners, but we all
appreciated the recently installed bridges along this
section. The snow was perfect (and now there is more!)
and we didn't have to slow down to side step over and
around the many seepages and small streams that used
to make this otherwise easy section a challenge for
beginners. We did six miles in about 2.5 hours, with long
lazy glides back downhill on our return trip. Deer and
porcupine tracks abound in this area.
Two skiers continued on to Medburyville where they had
spotted a car, getting there about 5 hours from Rt 100.
