to hoosac range skiing
Wherever i am, its that time of year when i start thinking about my annual pilgrimmage to the high country of the Hoosac Range. Last year about this time, Sam and i got into TRG. We were there as the base was really eroding fast. I missed 2024 due to knee surgery. I hit the jackpot late march 2023 going solo. This year still looks like alot of base up high in spite of recent warm weather. Granted, I am 300 miles away now. But have seen recent photos from Woodford snowbusters of the abandoned bus near the base of Glastenbury half buried. Anyway, Im thinking next week will be my window to get up there. Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday ( 23rd thru 25th) could be a powder day up high if Mountain Forecast is right. Ill admit, it has let me down on occasion. Friday is another possible snow event, but thats 9 days away. Always welcoming company. Tuesday or Wednesday look best as it stands. Approaches to trailheads could be muddy as far as driving, but these days will probably be cold enough so we dont sink in the mud. Kelly Stand rd is usually good. Somerset rd is risky im guessing. The Fayville approach to Glastenbury is usually good, but can figure that all out when the time comes. Anyway, thats my tentative plan. Respond here if interested. I am somewhat flexible and open to any day next week. Hope everyone has had a good ski season. Maybe its not over yet. Here in the mid Atlantic, its golf season.
