Four new-to-Dutch-Hill skiers and one split boarder
joined me for a tour of Dutch Hill Sunday.
We did a lap to the Vista then back to go down Yankee
Doodle, which has moguls at the top but still plenty of
places to make fresh tracks.
One skier did a half lap for the second lap, while the rest
of us did Christiana.
Then we split, one skier did the Windmill Woods, I went
with the split-boarder on the North Woods/Meadows and
two skiers did the Dyke/Meadows. The snow on the
Meadows and Dyke is consolidated enough that you can
get some speed if you don't turn too much.
There were about 15 cars in the parking lot at 10am
despite rather lousy driving conditions. Temps in the high
20s with some sleet. 25" of total snow at the bottom and
38" at the top of the skin track. Pretty solid base under
about 8" of silky sleety cover. Ought to be skiing into
April, and more snow coming this week!
