Dear all,
A quick update from the Hoos for Haiti campaign:
In the 10 days since we set a goal of $100,000 by February 14, the University community has raised over $50,000 dollars. Major donations have come from the Darden and McIntire School of Commerce campaigns, the Love 4 Haiti and C'Villian Relief benefit concerts of last weekend, and CIOs like the University Democrats, Virginia Anthropological Society, and the Language Houses. Individuals have also donated thousands via www.hoosonline.virginia.edu/supporthoos4haiti. Money has been disbursed to Partners in Health, GHESKIO, the International Rescue Committee, the American Red Cross, and to a memorial fund for the family of our friend Stephanie Jean-Charles.
We've also ordered Hoos for Haiti t-shirts, which are available in the U.Va. bookstore for $15. To place an order for t-shirts to sell with your event email fb9u@virginia.edu.
But we aren't done yet! Here are some educational and fundraising events coming up that everyone should participate in:
and further in the future...
To collaborate or partner with any of the above events or to ensure that your own event is advertised, email hoos4...@gmail.com.
The University is also planning a major benefit concert with an artist that could bring an estimated crowd of 10K. We are in need of volunteers to help write grant proposals in the coming days. Please email hoos4...@gmail.com if you could fill this need.
Thanks for your support and dedication to helping the people of Haiti!
