Dear SWET and Honyaku ML readers,

I received the following request from Paul Rust, a retired translator and old friend living in Yokohama. If you can take the books off his hands, please contact him directly at p.r...@yokohama.email.ne.jp

I’m looking for a new home for some very nice books, most of which are language-related. I will be happy to donate them to an individual or institution that can make use of them. Some are quite old, hard to find, and expensive to purchase. There are fifty or so volumes. I would request that the interested party come to my home in Yokohama to pick up the entire collection as is. If I can’t find someone to take them, I’m afraid they will have to go out in the trash, which would be a shame.

Here are some examples to give you an idea of what’s available.

A Reference Grammar of Japanese (Martin)
Origins: A Short Etymological Dictionary of Modern English (Partridge)
A Dictionary of American English (4 vol, pub. 1938)
Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language (Quirk et al)
A well-worn Nelson’s (purchased in Ann Arbor in 1977)
The Tale of Genji (Seidensticker translation, also purchased in Ann Arbor)

Some of the books will likely fetch prices that will make it worth the effort to sell them for someone not fully occupied with work.
