皆さま、こんにちは。

知人の依頼で、UK/Japan Double Taxation Conventionに関する
免税申立書の書式(Japan-2-DT)を訳しています。
書式はここにあります。

1枚目の左下の方に
(Please give) - the company's tax reference in Japan
とありますが、このtax reference とは、例えばどのようなものを
指しているのかご教示いただけませんか?

My guess is that it is any kind of reference used by the tax office. In Australia we have a Tax File Number for individuals, and Australian Business Number for other entities.
But the same document should exist in Japanese. Check the zeimusho site.

Dear Peter,

 

Thank you very much for your advice. If tax reference “number” is what you (or HM Revenue & Customs) would first think of from tax reference, I would go with 納税者番号.
