This initial request brought no responses. But the requirement has turned into a more substantial one – from tomorrow to the 9^th, and I am further hampered by the fact that I am unable for some reason to get onto the Facebook translators page to advertise the opportunity. Could someone please help me post a job offer on Facebook?

Hello dear brethren,

I hope you are all doing brilliantly.

I have an urgent and mad inquiry (as is always the case with me).

Is there anyone in Himeji who would be available to meet a group of Australians at Himeji station tomorrow around midday and make sure they get to their hotel etc and generally look after them? I am meant to be doing it but there was a miscalculation of my quarantine requirements and I won’t be able to get there (from Shinagawa where I am now) until the following day.

If there is anyone self-identifying as an interpreter and if you are available the work could extend to Tuesday morning.

Please get back to me. I will be very happy to pay a premium hourly rate for this service.

I'm glad you filled the requirement. Anyone can post a job offer on the JAT website. Just go to the JAT website and click on "Find A Translator." On the upper right you will then see a "Post A Job" button.

But, I think it's important to post the information in a rather organized manner.

1. Date : 3/31(Thu)  - 4/7(Thu) weekend??
2. Time : 9:00 -17:00 ??
3. Location : Himeji Station > ? 
4. Interpreting mode: Consec or Simul?
5. # of interpreters : 1 or 2 ?
6. Type of meeting and Topic：?
7. Full day fee : ??

In FB, you might not want to disclose 7, but at least 1-6 are critical to attract someone available who wants to consider offering his/her time.

Nice to hear from you.

Thank you very much for your suggestions, I can say now that the requirement has been filled and the replacement interpreter is hard at work. I am dialling in from the sick ward in Minato Ku to do other meetings on the same job.

 

Re disclosing No. 7, I am not at all like other T&I companies. I don’t tell people what I am offering, I ask “how much to make you happy?” and that’s what they get.
