Dear Honyaku list,

Any guesses as to the meaning of SWIFT転電 in banking?
It is being contrasted with SWIFT被仕向 (incoming remittance).
In the document, things happen SWIFT転電時 and SWIFT被仕向時.
(I'm guessing 電 is short for 電文 but I'm not sure.)

Thanks and best regards,

I am not familiar with this term, but given the usage of 転電 outside of a
banking context (in the sense of reposting or republishing), I would say
the most plausible interpretation here is "SWIFT message forwarding".

For the record, after further research, we ended up going with the following, with a note to the client:

SWIFT被仕向 -> SWIFT inbound
SWIFT転電 -> SWIFT outbound

The acronym SWIFT stands for the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication. The ISO has designated SWIFT as the BIC registration authority. When assigned to a non-financial institution, the code may also be known as a Business Entity Identifier or BEI.

SWIFT payments are a type of international transfer sent via the SWIFT international payment network.

The SWIFT international payment network is one of the largest financial messaging systems in the world.
