I ran into a Patentese which I was not familiar with and
got an explanation for it from a benrishi so that I wanted
to share it and my tentative translation for it with you.

The term is 特表 and it is the abbreviation of 公表特許公報.
Very confusing, isn't it, since we think 公開特許公報!

According to the particular benrishi, it's full version English
translation is "Published Japanese Translation(s) of PCT
International Publication(s)."

My tentative translation of 特表 2002-xxxxxx is:
Translated PCT Publication 2002-xxxxxxx.

Any comment? Maybe you know a better one.

In the book 特許翻訳の基礎と応用 by 倉増一 (講談社サイエンティフィク、2006), a great reference
book by the way, it says:

特表平 yy-nnnnnn:
Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication (Translation of PCT
Application)
No. yy-nnnnnn or JP-T-yy-nnnnnn

特表 yyyy-nnnnnn:
Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication (Translation of PCT
Application)
No. yyyy-nnnnnn or JP-T-yyyy-nnnnnn

公表特許公報は、番号が50万台以降であることを除くと公開特許公報と同じ体裁をしているので、公開番号と同じ表記をしても識別可能を思われます。

So if you wanted to be as clear as possible, you could use the (long)
versions above, but it's not strictly necessary. I see nothing wrong
with "Translated PCT Publication 2002-xxxxxx", although depending on
context you may want to make clear it's the Japanese translation and
not one of the other PCT languages of publication.
