     I have never worked with this agency, but I was curious and looked them up on the ProZ Blue Board.  They have had a reasonably good rep until late last year; since then, two out of two reports were uncomplimentary, in Dec. 2009 and end of May this year, indicating significant payment delays.
     However, among the earlier reports are glowing testimonials for Mostansar.

What Andy said. They offer ridiculously low rates, rates that I didn't accept when I was a raw beginner in 1994. I told them repeatedly not to bother me until they were willing to pay decent rates, but it took several repetitions for that to sink in.

The very fact that the address is Novi, Michigan, sets some alarm bells of mine off. 

About ten years ago, I and several other translators were ripped off by a man with the surname "Shiki" whose address was in that town.  One of our colleagues, whose name I cannot recall at this moment, filed against Shiki in a New York court and won a judgment against him.  Shiki never paid the judgment either. 

Correspondence related to this case should be in the Honyaku archives.

To be fair, Novi is metro Detroit's hub for the area's Japanese expats.
It's probably home to the state's largest population of Japanese citizens
and/or Japanese-born Americans, and is thus a logical location for
Japanese-centric businesses of all stripes, including translation.
Address alone shouldn't be enough to write off a potential client; Izumi
Suzuki of Suzuki Myers & Associates is located in Novi.

It was Tom Landman. And it is an instructive case, but it took him a long time to collect (I believe he told me that he did in fact collect in the end) and he was fortunate in that he could sue in a jurisdiction that made things a bit easier than they normally are in such cases.

To say nothing of the North American headquarters for the Japan Auto Part Industries Association. Mazda used to have offices there, and at one point so did Nipppon Denso. Toshiba still does. Back in the late 1980s, it was also the town for miles around that had a Japanese grocery store, IFRC. "Miles around" as in you probably had to go to Chicago for the next nearest one; I just looked on the Internet and apparently it still is. Novi is Michigan's Torrance or Sunnyvale (though having been to all three, I can say its offering don't quite compare to the other two--of course, Sunnyvale without the rest of the South Bay doesn't compare to Torrance on its own, either, but I rapidly digress . . .).

Anyway, as Karen pointed out Epic tends to offer ridiculously low rates. I had them remove me from their database; took a couple of tries, but they did do it.

Just checked the archives myself and it is "Shiji" not "Shiki". Time
does things to one's brain.
